Here's another reading challenge I'm doing next year. I never got into the idea of audiobooks until 2012 when I began reading the "Stephanie Plum" books and could only find one of them at my library as an audiobook. After listening to this one, I got into the idea, and have listened to several over the last two years. I've even found used ones on cassettes (yes, I have equipment for that). In many cases, I find myself concurrently reading a physical book and listening to an audiobook on the side.
This year, I listened to over 20 audiobooks, but for this challenge I'm picking the Stenographer level, but often I'll go over whatever level I choose for these challenges. I can assure you I'll get at least 15 next year.
To sign up, visit Hot Listens at this link. Below are the details copied from the blog:
- Books must be in audio format (CD, MP3, etc.)
- ANY genres count.
- Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed.
- You do not have to be a book blogger to participate; you can track your progress on Goodreads, Shelfari, Facebook, LibraryThing, etc.
- If you’re a blogger grab the button and do a quick post about the challenge to help spread the word. If you’re not a blogger you can help by posting on Facebook or Tweeting about the challenge.
Levels:
- Newbie (I’ll give it a try) 1-5
- Weekend Warrior (I’m getting the hang of this) 5-10
- Stenographer (can listen while multi-tasking) 10-15
- Socially Awkward (Don’t talk to me) 15-20
- Binge Listener (Why read when someone can do it for you) 20-30
- My Precious (I had my earbuds surgically implanted) 30+
My progress:
As of 7/8, I will going up to the next level since I know I will be listening to more audiobook this year. there are still five months left and I will try to listen at least one each month. But I may do more than that. Will see how many I get over the next months.
EDIT: 8/2 Now I've got to go up again, because I know I will be listening to more! I'm now a Binge Listener.

Great job!!! Interesting titles :) I haven't listened to any Linda Howard's in a long time, I remember not enjoying that much romantic suspense back then, but I got into it this year. I think I need to go back and check her out again.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work! I hope you can join us again for 2015 :)
The only Lois Lowry books I've read The Giver and the books that followed. I've never listened to a Dr. Seuss book, I bet that was a good listen. I will have to try that.
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a great number there! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteGreat listening year. Congrats. And a wide range of genre. I read Hatchet to my class, the audio was probably better!
