Tiptoe Through the Tulips
This was a hard one to choose a song for. I originally had something else in mind but decided against that one, thinking it was a little inappropriate to include.
This song was first made famous in 1929 by jazz guitarist and singer Nick Lucas. Several others recorded the song that same year. But the best-known version is that by singer Herbert Khaury, better known as Tiny Tim. Tiny Tim first performed the song on the sketch-comedy show Laugh-In in 1968. The song reached #17 and became Tiny Tim's signature song. Both songs are included below.
Oh, Tiny Tim! I remember when he and Miss Vicky got married on TV too.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard the earlier version. I prefer it to Tiny Tim's, but I guess his was done for comic effect.
ReplyDeleteTiny Tim! Ha! My late husband used to work the lights for the stage at some big hotel in the Catskills. And he told me one night they had Tiny Tim there performing and he sang that song.
ReplyDeleteInappropriate? Oh, now I'm curious. What would be inappropriate considering your topic?
ReplyDeleteLiz A., read my Sunday 16 post.
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine what would be inappropriate! But this one sounds fun too
ReplyDeleteLOL. What a purrfect T. I should have figured it out with your tulip hint today:)
ReplyDeleteAnd now I can't get Tiny Tim's falsetto out of my head...lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for free speech etc so who cares if someone deem this song inappropriate. I remember Tiny Tim who really created this meek and freaky character.
ReplyDeleteFo those asking, this was the song I originally planned to post for this letter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQNI1KfGXBA
ReplyDeleteIt might seem a little insensitive to those undergoing mental health treatment, which I have been doing myself. Nevertheless, I just had to listen to the song.
Another I decided against including earlier in the alphabet was this one I recently discovered. Listen to the lyrics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJNV4FMpGh8
