Book Discussion: Bookmarks or Dog-Earing?

I saw this post on The Chocolate Lady's blog.

Are you team dog-eared or strictly no creases?

As someone who borrows a lot of library books, I rely on bookmarks so as not to damage the books. I have also collected fancy ones, so no need for using store receipts or torn-off edges of paper. Even with books I have at home, I use the bookmarks. It's one thing if I buy a used book with pages that have been creased in the top corners, but I won't be doing it myself.

What is your preference for saving places in physical books?

PS...The Discussion Challenge now has two new co-hosts: Lindsi @ Do You Dog Ear? and Julie @ Chapter Break

  1. I never dog-ear, though sometimes I flip a book over, which can be damaging too. Mostly i use bookmarks, including my phone! Whatever works…

  2. I've always preferred bookmarks. But they are usually slips of paper I find, although I don't read too many physical books anymore.

  3. I am definitely a bookmark person. I have several that I keep around. It irritates me when I find a dogeared book from the library. If it's your own book, you can do what you want, but not a library book.

  4. In my youth, I was an unrepentant member of Team Dog-Ear. Once I was an adult and paying for my own books, I switched to Team Book Mark. Now I can only read e-books, so I use the digital bookmark provided by Kindle. No dog-ears possible!

  5. Third possibility: Flip-over folk here too ;) Or I just remember the page number. Bookmarks make mysterious get aways from my books, and dog-ears bother me and have always done.

  6. Definitely bookmarks, even though sometimes the ones I use are not too fancy.

  7. Library or borrowed books I use a bookmark or whatever slip of paper is around. My own books are dog-earred; dog-gone-it, it's my book. Linda in Kansas

  8. Definitely bookmarks or anything to use as bookmarks because I really hate the idea of bending any pages of a book. But with ebooks, there is such thing although when I bookmark a page, it shows a bend corner on the page of my ereader.

    Have a lovely day.
