26 Things About the Number 26--Part 1

Colleen at The Thursday 13 holds a weekly blogging prompt where bloggers make a list of 13 things on Thursdays. The topic is for you to choose. The blog host doesn't have any official graphics to display on the Thursday 13 posts, so I decided to whip one up myself. 🙂

As we enter 2026, I chose to post 26 things about the number 26. Since 13 is half of 26, this will be a two-parter (more next week). For this week:

  1. It takes 26 moves or less to solve a Rubik’s Cube.
  2. In a human foot, there are 26 bones.
  3. 26 is the atomic number of iron.
  4. Michigan was the 26th state to be admitted into the US.
  5. There are 26 letters in the alphabet.
  6. A full marathon race is about 26.2 miles long (or 42.195 kilometers).
  7. A shape with 26 faces is called an icositetrahedron.
  8. There are 26 red cards and 26 black cards in a deck of cards.
  9. Walt Disney has won the most Oscars ever, this stands at 26.
  10. Quincy Jones won 26 Grammys.
  11. Astroid number 26 was discovered in 1853.
  12. The 26th president of the US was Theodore Roosevelt.
  13. 26 is known as the “joke throw” in darts and is reached by throwing 20, 5 & 1 after trying for a treble 20.

Tune in next week for Part 2.

PS--I posted this tonight, even though I meant to schedule-post it for tomorrow.

When you guys mentioned that bloggers make a list of 13 things on Thursdays. Many people associate the number 13 with bad luck due to history and cultural beliefs, not facts. For me personally I do not believe it at all

By the way, I just can not wait much longer to read part two

Welcome 2026. A new year to rise stronger, dream bigger, and move forward with purpose.

Great Post. Most languages have an alphabet. There are 26 letters in the English alphabet. Which reminds me of a joke. What do you call some one who speaks 2 languages? Bilingual. What do you call someone who speaks 3 languages? Trilingual. What do you call someone who speaks more than 3 languages? A polyglot. What do you call someone who speaks one language? An American. Just me being me. Happy New Year!
