Poetry Reading Challenge 2020
Always like doing this one. I will most likely do the third option.
- One of the easiest, and possibly most difficult, will be getting people to sign up to read a poem-a-day through the Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day service. The challenge is to read a poem-a-day for a week once per month and write about which poems were your favorite and why. You can write up a short blurb on your Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, or your blog. I’d love for you to share your experience in the comments each month.
- Second, read at least 1 book of poetry (doesn’t have to be cover-to-cover) and write about your favorite poems and what you learned about yourself while reading those poems.
- Third, if you want to go all out, feel free to read as many books of poetry as you can in one year and link to your reviews in the comments.
Here is what I am reading:
- Daisy Jones & the Six--Taylor Jenkins Reid
- Rose: Poems--Li-Young Lee
- Imaginary Animal--Rachelle Linda Escamilla
- Taking the Arrow Out of the Heart--Alice Walker
- The Poets' Corner--John Lithgow
- Foundry, October 2019 Edition
- River of Stars--Yosano Akiko
- Morning is a Little Child--Joan Walsh Anglund (reread)
- Identical--Ellen Hopkins
- The Complete Poems of John Keats
- Rani Patel in Full Effect--Sonia Patel

Reading Challenge: 20 LGBTQ+ Books in 2020@Enthralled Bookworm
I decided not to do one of the challenges I had signed up for, though I liked the Diverse prompts (many of which can be found on other challenges I will be doing), and that some were LGBTQ-themed. I decided this after coming across this one that is LGBTQ-themed and a Bingo card.
The challenge is to read 20 LGBTQ+ books this 2020 (but if we can push for more, why not? That’s even better!). It doesn’t matter if it’s a 2020 release or a book that’s been published a few years back. The main goal is to read books that feature LGBTQ+ characters and stories, and to share these with others!
I also encourage everyone to strive for a meaningful and diverse reading challenge, so go and try to read queer books with various kinds of LGBTQ+ representations in all sorts of genres you can get your hands on.
And to keep us motivated, here’s a book bingo to go with the reading challenge! (Plus a progress template!)
Here is what I am reading:
- Young Adult: Wayward Son--Rainbow Rowell
- Science Fiction: I'm a Gay Wizard--V.S. Santoni
- Contemporary: The Anxiety of Everyday Objects--Aurelie Sheehan
- POC Lead: Infants of the Spring--Wallace Thurman

The 2020 European Reading Challenge
Have loved doing this one. Will get as many as I can of next year.
WHAT COUNTS AS "EUROPE"?: We stick with the standard list of 50 sovereign states that fall (at least partially) within the geographic territory of the continent of Europe and/or enjoy membership in international European organizations such as the Council of Europe. This list includes the obvious (the UK, France, Germany, and Italy), the really huge Russia, the tiny Vatican City, and the mixed bag of Baltic, Balkan, and former Soviet states.
My Books:
January 1, 2020 to January 31, 2021
Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Macedonia, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Vatican City.NOTE: Even with Brexit, the United Kingdom is still one country, in Europe, that includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. So one book from any one of these four counts as your one book for the United Kingdom. I'm not a stickler about it because challenges should be about fun not about rules. However, when it comes to winning the Jet Setter prize, only one book from one of the UK countries counts.
My Books:
- And Then There Were None--Agatha Christie (UK)
- The Girl With the Red Balloon--Katherine Locke (Germany)
- Lysistrata--Aristophanes (Greece)
- An Appetite for Violets--Martine Bailey (Italy)
- The Guest List--Lucy Foley (Ireland)
- The Lost Vintage--Ann Mah (France)
