Reading Classic Books Challenge

I have no clue if Back to the Classics which I have done for the last few years will be offered and have been checking back to see if it will be. But still no word and I got tired of waiting and decided to do this classics challenge for next year, at The Broken Spine.

3) Read a classic that takes place in a country other than where you live: Cranford--Elizabeth Gaskell
4) Read a classic in translation: The Betrothed--Alessandro Manzoni
5) Read a classic by a new to you author: White Fang--Jack London
6) Read a book of poetry: The Complete Poems of John Keats
7) Read a classic written between 1800-1860: The Blithedale Romance--Nathaniel Hawthorne
8) Read a classic written by an LGBT author and/or with an LGBT main character: The Green Carnation--Robert Smythe Hitchens

Sadly the classics daunt many of us and spend too long in the unread piles/towers.
Have fun with this one.
