2018 Paranormal Reading Challenge

Will be doing this one again, getting as many books as I can, since there are no levels on this one.

I'm bringing back the Paranormal Reading Challenge for 2018! This reading challenge includes all kinds of supernatural. This means you can read about vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, ghosts, and even witches!

As always this is a challenge where you choose your own reading goals. It's low pressure so read as much or as little as you would like!

The Rules: 

• This challenge begins January 1, 2017 and ends Dec 31, 2017.

• You may sign up anytime during the year.

• I won't be creating different levels. Read as little or as many books as you want.\

• Books must be paranormal. This means the book has supernatural beings or elements but is set in our world. This includes vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, ghosts, witches, wizards, psychic powers, magic, fairies, mermaids, angels, gods, etc. 

• You may include books of any format including traditional books, ebooks, or audiobooks.

• Books may be YA, adult, horror, romance, graphic novels, etc.

• You may reread books.

• Books may count towards other reading challenges.

Words for Wednesday

It's been a while since I've participated in the Words for Wednesday at this blog. This is one of the weeks in which the prompts are pictures rather than words.

Way out in the woods there was an abandoned jail house known as the Castle Rock Jail. When Josh and his friends went exploring this area, they saw a strange raven who began following them around the woods, eventually leading them to the door of the old jail. The door was locked, but he bird had magic powers that opened it. Josh led the others inside to find a bed of magic inside the old abandoned jail. Potions, wands and other magic elements sat on tables and in labs inside the old jailhouse.

2018 New Adult Reading Challenge

The New Adult Reading challenge I did this year isn't being offered next year, so I was glad to find a similar challenge at this site.   There are several levels and a bingo card option. You may do one or both. I'm trying for at least the first level, more if time permits.

Hi guys! It’s the end of 2017 and with the end of the year comes new reading challenges. Last year I decided to start a New Adult Reading Challenge and I had so much fun that I decided to bring it back again in 2018. So today I’m here to bring you the 2018 New Adult Reading Challenge. This means that in 2018 I’ll try to read as many new adult books as possible and you can join me if you want. Either you already love new adult or you want to start reading it you’re welcome to participate in this reading challenge. But before you decide either you want to participate or not let me explain how everything works.

Challenges:

The challenges next year are going to be the same as in 2017 which means that you can either try to read as many new adult books as possible, complete the reading bingo or do both. The first challenge is to read as many new adult books you can in 2018. For that we’ll have categories with different goals you can achieve and you’ll even have a badge you can use wherever you want to show your progress throughout the year. And because there were a few people achieving the last goal I decided to make it a little bit more difficult in 2018 with a ew category. 2018 Nonfiction Reading Challenge

It's been about two years since I saw a nonfiction challenge offered. This one is hosted by this site.  I will be reading as many books as I can for this, thus following the first option.

In previous years, I’ve thought about hosting a nonfiction challenge, but I’ve been able to find existing challenges that made doing so seem redundant. That’s not the case this year, so I’m excited to announce that I’ll be hosting a nonfiction reading challenge! The goals will be flexible and I’ll be putting together several events throughout the year to help participants connect with each other.

Suggested Goals

Rather than suggest particular levels for this challenge, I’ve got a couple ideas for different nonfiction reading goals you could set for yourself.

• Read X nonfiction books
• Read X% nonfiction
• Read nonfiction in certain categories – I’ve put together checklists for reading diversely and for reading one book for each century in the Dewey Decimal system, or you could make your own
• Read X books from a list, such as buzzfeed’s important nonfiction you should be reading, the winners of the Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction, or any of these goodreads lists
