My Year in Books

Last year I found another website, that like Goodreads, also gives you a year in books: myyearinbooks.com. You just have to submit the link to your Goodreads profile/shelf and it'll gather all the info for you. Let's see what it can tell me about my 2024 reading year..

In 2024, you read:

249 Books which adds up to 67,521 pages and 114,786 minutes

that’s bananas! You should feel proud of yourself.

Based on our data from last year, this puts you in the

top 3.0% of readers

You read 126 genres Your top genres were:

Contemporary 71

Romance 68

Mystery 46

Historical Fiction 46

Young Adult 44

Fantasy 43

Nonfiction 29

Children's 27

Middle Grade 27

Biography 26

Though you read a total of 249 books, you read the most in December

when you read 29 books.

Your reads spanned 75 publication years:

1949, 1965, 1970, 1971, 1975, 1980, 1987, 1992, 1996, 2005, 2007, 2009,

2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022,  2023, 2024

Fun fact, 8+ of the books you read were published in 2018!

And throughout 2024, one author stood above them all for you...drum roll please...

Jessica Beck

You read 3 books and 884 pages by them!

I was surprised by some of the results. I mean, 29 books in December! Last year it was 30 in December. I wonder why I get so many in December. Probably because I was rushing to finish the reading categories that remained among my various challenges. And I had a lot of short reads, such as picture books, that month.  And all publications from the 1900s? I know I read a few "classics," so why didn't those get counted? Though I'm guessing that they were reissues from the 20th century. And more than eight books published in 2018? Who knew, until now?

Try this to see what your "year in books" results are. See if it surprises you, too 🙂

My Year in Reading

It's the end! I got all my year-long challenge completed today. I'm taking a break from reading until tomorrow. Here are my Goodreads highlights for the year.

I was surprised to have gotten a lot fewer books this year (249) than last year (261). I was worried over not being able to find book that fit some categories, but it all worked out in the end. I was rushing to finishing what remained before the year was over.

I'm excited to start over beginning tomorrow. The library won't be open again until Thursday, but I have some e-books planned And some physical ones at home for the first of the year.

I'm also still waiting for some challenges to come out. From what I read on Professional Book Needs site (I don't listen to podcasts), this year was their last reading challenge, so that's one fewer challenge for me. I haven't found very many I want to do other than those I have already signed up for on my blog. There are some I'm considering, but am not too sure about. Trying to decide.

More on my reading year to come...

New Year's Eve Fun

A lot of old ones here, but I still love them! But there are some new ones too.
