Too Early?

Not-so-hot weather recently (still expected in the coming days), but it still feels wrong for schools to be starting now. I've now wondered how kids in my area feel when it's still hot (nearing 100) at the beginning of fall.

I could never have handled going back to school in early August. It just seems too soon.

That school supplies photo hold true even today, though most Kmarts have been long gone. Now it's at Target, Walmart, and Dollar Tree. And speaking of Kmart, the former one in my town has been stocking supplies for the up coming Spirit Halloween store. The store's website says it's opening in August. Well, I'm going to be as soon I can once it opens, even if it seems too early.

Yep, I remember when school didn't start until after Labor Day. That schedule permitted families to have longer vacations before school started. Linda in Kansas

I need to buy some new ball point pens at Staples, so I better get there and beat the back-to-school rush of shoppers.

That first one is so true. If you want the good costumes (or if you remember making your own costumes, back in the day), now's the time to start. And I absolutely start my Christmas knitting now. I know it's a joke, but it's not a joke at all.

I need the second one. I am so tired of people telling me how school is starting too early. I know. I get it. I don't set the school calendar. (Sorry. Venting all over you.)

First day of school here is next Wednesday. In this area, there are several holidays that didn’t use to be off (mostly Jewish) that are now, thus the need for an earlier start.

Nothing says you entered a time machine so much as seeing a K-Mart.

We didn't return to school until the day after the Jerry Lewis telethon.
