As I have said, my hometown has a new bookstore, the first in more than 20 years. This past Saturday, there was a book signing, at which I made my first purchase. The Author (seen below in the green shirt) is Rachel M. Yoldi and her book is Lady Nightmare.
It was fun to attend a signing. The last such event I remember in my hometown was about 12 years ago when the former owner of a local bar had a signing for her self-published memoir at the bar. Our last bookstore had closed two or more years prior to that time. I now more than ever want to get one or more of my books published so I can possibly hold a signing at the new bookstore. I'm now considering Amazon self-publishing even more now. The author at the recent signing used hybrid publishing at this website which I have just now begun to look at.

That's a great resource. And if you become a regular shopper there, they'll be so happy for you when you do get your book published.
I've only attended one book signing when the Barnes and Nobles first came to town in the 90s. They had a grand opening so we went. I did not know that there was going to be an author speaking about her book and the signing. I hadn't read it but after listening to the discussions I was intrigued. I bought the book and was sad that I found it so boring. The way she wrote was descriptive. However I felt too descriptive and I want to scream, get on with the point! I felt bad about myself, and also felt like I was wrong with so many people there going on and on about her flowery prose.
I'm curious about how Amazon self-publishing works. I knew they do it, but I don't know the details. And I bet it was fun to go to the signing. I hope it's a good book.
Good luck with the publishing.
Glad you had fun at the book signing! And that it has inspired you to pursue self-publishing and having a book signing of your own!
