B: Bathing, Books, Boredom, Bed

Bathing, Books, Boredom, Bed

As the days went by and we were forced to stay home, I kept seeing things on the Internet about people not taking baths or showers and staying in their pajamas all day long. I had to wonder--is this really true?  And there were photos about people not shaving or cutting their nails. Really? I thought. They have time to do it, why aren't they? They should not be worried that they have too much time on their hands. Right now, everyone does, and it's not their fault. What are they doing? Not me, though. I regularly showered and dressed. I feel awful if I don't bathe and it's just not my style to be in pajamas and slippers all day. Some habits just can't be changed even when holed up all day. I was able to wear this sticker day after day😉:

Boredom--Do I even have to say it? We all faced it, no doubt, and got bored  doing the same thing day after day. Even feeling this way, I still did not feel inspired to write or create much. Sometimes, the only way to fight boredom was to go to bed early or just lie on the bed for a nap during the day, just to kill time. Going to bed did not have to be done at any particular time, until work began again in June one day a week, then twice a week beginning in September. Until then, I did not use my alarm clock. It was weird not having it go off.

If I was glad to have hoarded anything, it was books. This was a blogpost I wrote last March. Most of them were bought years ago at various thrift stores. Some came from thrift stores visits made in January and February 2020, as well as some from Kmart, which closed in our town at the beginning of February. All the Kmart ones got read last year, but many of the ones accumulated in past years remain unread to this day. I was just glad that my stashes of hoarded books did not look like one of these photos:

These were my go-to books once the library was shutdown in March. I had made a trip on Friday the 13th of March to return some books I'd had out, but did not take any out that day. That was good timing, because the shutdown began the following Monday. So right I now had only my stash at home to read from. It was right after the shutdown that I began reading e-books  from the library. More on my e-book experience to come.

As I said yesterday, I did some shopping on Amazon, mainly to get books I just could not wait much longer for. The digital versions had either a long wait or were unavailable on one of both of the digital library sites I began using. I was glad the library's Zip Books program was still running after the shutdown. Will discuss the Zip process later on. I got about six books this way before the curbside pickup began.

Oh Wow! That book picture is incredible! As a book lover myself, book hoarding definitely sounds like a positive thing!

I have converted to e-reading... but still have a stack of unread items! I keep seeing things I like the idea of reading, but somehow rarely make time to actually do the reading!

I may do pyjamas/house clothes all day - but gotta have that shower!!! YAM xx

I'm happy to say I didn't suffer any of these. There's too much excitement in life for any of it!

Fun sticker! People here in France (but I guess everywhere else in the world!) were very upset to not being able to get a haircut. And we saw a lot of fun photos of failed home-made hairstyles ;)
Boredom may leads to books ;) Well, that's a giant pile of books ;))

Sadly it is only too evident when that sticker does not apply.
As a book hoarder that photo is closer to my reality than I want to admit.

I not only horde books in paper, but also books in digital lol, my kindle has several books that I haven't read yet. Well done on your A2Z so far.

I don't get the no showers, hair face, etc. That's ridiculous! Like you I feel horrible if I don't take my daily shower. I haven't really fallen bored. I guess it's because my life hasn't changed a whole lot since the Pandemic hit. I've learned over the years ways to fill my days which involves art or music.

Sorry for the late return visit. I'm playing catch up today!

Curious as a Cathy's Looney Tunes A-Z Bugs Bunny Art Sketch. Happy A2Zing!
